God created us to love and worship Him above all things; our sin consists of the fact that we have chosen a bunch of things to love and worship in addition to God. And throughout the whole story of the Bible, God challenges us in and is rescuing us from our worship of false gods. Following Jesus means we have to be intentional about not following after someone or something else. Following the path of Jesus means turning away from other paths. Jesus isn’t an add on to our life, He is Lord.
