Ukraine Update 4/22/22
Below is a recent post from Zibi Milkiewicz, pastor at Christian Fellowship North, in Warsaw Poland. This is the first church that Kurt visited upon his arrival in Warsaw, and who we have developed a connection with and will continue to work with financially and possibly in the future with other needs during this crisis. They are doing wonderful work. Continue to pray for them. Check them out on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/schpolnoc
“Recent sad events in Ukraine have shown us that in difficult moments we can unite. We can put our prejudices to the side and lend a helping hand. We can do miracles and remind the world what Polish hospitality is.
In the territory of Ukraine we have supplied 25 tons of the most necessary things to Mukachevo and to Chervonohrad, from where they were dispersed throughout Ukraine. As a part of the help, we were able to collect the most necessary things such as mattresses (400), blankets, pillows, sleepers, jackets, shoes, underwear, pharmaceuticals, headbands, bandages, military tactical gloves (50). We also shipped food – 37,392 cans, 28,800 packs of spaghetti, 23,616 packages of buckwheat, 3,456 bags of rice, and 45,000 energy bars. The total is over 60210 pounds of food. We also donated a dozen wheelchairs for Ukrainian hospital needs. We bought and handed over a bus to transport orphans from Mariupol. When it went to Ukraine it was filled with clothes, medicines and food. We have donated $106,000 (USD) to people and organizations carrying aid located in Lviv, Mariupol, Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi. We have evacuated more than 100 people from Ukraine (including a group of deaf Ukrainians), traveling a total of over 17 thousand miles.
In the territory of Poland we have placed 385 people (some for a short period of time, some for a longer time) into safe houses. We also help refugees discover what to do next in a new reality. We have rented “Emergency” apartments in Warsaw, where people carried out of Ukraine by us, find a moment to breath, and receive the necessary psychological help that is needed. From there they can decide whether to stay in Poland or continue along a further path. We provide them with readiness, normality and basic safe conditions to operate for a few-days.
We help organize refugees future and long-term safe shelter in Poland or Europe – thanks to international contacts we have already organized stays for Ukrainian
families in Germany, the Netherlands and Northern European countries (80 people in total).”
