Our Mission

Helping Find Their Way Back to God

“Helping people find their way back to God”.

Silver Creek Fellowship has accepted the mission of Jesus – a mission that is found in the bible books of Matthew and Acts:

Jesus came and told his disciples, ” . . . Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.” Matt. 28:18-20

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.  And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

This mission is made up of three tasks:

REACH  people who are far from God. The Western Church is observing a dramatic shift from a Christian culture to a post-Christian one. It is now suggested that 60% of the people that God has called us to reach will never enter the doors of our current forms of church. If that is true, we then need to allow our imaginations to be profoundly reshaped by the biblical notion that God is sending us as He sent Himself in Jesus. Matthew 28 says to “Go!” and we are challenging ourselves to be the church who will reach people who are far from God.

RESTORE God’s dream for the world.  God’s dream for the world is seen in the beautiful picture of Genesis 2; God, man, and all of Creation living in perfect harmony and communion.  Our calling is to see the world, which has been shattered and broken by sin, restored to fellowship with our Creator.  A common perception among pre-Christians is that Christ-followers talk about the issues that affect people, but that we don’t do much to address those issues. Jesus expects us to change that perception. It is our mission to be a people who restore God’s dream for the world.

REPRODUCE the mission in others. If we are called to go to “Jerusalem…Judea…Samaria… and to the ends of the earth,” we have to find a new and practical ways of doing it.  We must move from addition to multiplication if we are going to make a difference in our own lifetime.  This call to reproduce counts on you and your friends. Every movement starts with one person. When you and your friends follow the biblical example to become followers of Jesus (2 Timothy 2:2) the results will reproduce the mission in others.

That’s the Jesus Mission. Now we go.
