Up To Date Information on SCF Groups, Communication, and Activities
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”- Philippians 4:6-7 (The Message)
We’re all aware of the evolving situation with the coronavirus in our state, in our nation, and around the world. And, we’re also aware that our response as a church is likely on your mind.
HERE’S WHAT WE’RE DOING AS A CHURCH
TRUSTING GOD: Viral disease is a fact of biological existence and part of the fallen creation that we live in. Keeping perspective and not panicking apply here, just as they do for all risks we face in this world. No matter how dire circumstances get, the Lord remains our refuge and strength, “an ever-present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1). To trust in the Lord in times of trouble is to experience and bear witness to the resurrection power of Jesus Christ.
PRAYING: We must pray for the sick, the scared, for public health officials, for doctors and nurses, for researchers, and for caregivers. As Christians, we believe prayer has power, so we seek help from the Lord.
SCF ONLINE: Our interactive worship meetings stream live on Sunday’s at 9:00 am and 10:45 am and on Thursdays at 7:00 pm. You can also watch them at any time on our YouTube channel or under our sermons tab on our website. Celebrate Recovery, Small Groups, Tuesday morning prayer, Rooted, and Student Ministries are all meeting virtually. (See below to learn more.)
MISSION OF HOPE: Our food distributions continue on their regular schedules, but the distribution methods have been changed. We now deliver prepared food boxes directly to people’s vehicle.
CHURCH OFFICE: The church office is closed, and staff are working from home. Feel free to contact our office by phone (503) 873-7353 or by email email@example.com. In addition, you can get the personal email information for each of our leaders and staff from our web page.
CELEBRATE RECOVERY: Celebrate Recovery will resume online, interactive meetings on March 23, 2020 at 7:00 pm. If you have attended in the past you will receive an email with a link to join the Online Group. If you would like to participate email Kurt.
SCF KIDS: We don’t want our SCF Kids to miss out on anything during this time. If you would like your kids to still keep up with the curriculum they were learning during SCF Kids contact Kurt at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive weekly lessons by email. We also have 100’s of videos on Right Now Media for kids. Go to: Right Now Media to sign up if you haven’t already. For additional materials click here. In addition we are putting together an Easter Bag for each of our SCF Kids with activities, crafts, coloring pages, candy, flower seeds, and more.
WORSHIP: Saddleback has put together an awesome Spotify Worship List. Get the List.
DAILY DEVOTIONS: Short, daily meditations on God’s Words that are practical and relevant to your everyday life. Podcast by Kurt Barnes. Click here to listen.
Small Groups: Small Groups are going to be using technology beginning this Sunday to start connecting. Be on the look out for an invite to join a virtual group. If you’re not in a Small Group contact Mark Hunter to join.
Tuesday Morning Prayer Group: Virtual meetings on Tuesday mornings at 6:30 am. Join here
Student Ministries: Several things are being explored for our Student Ministries to stay connected. Chase Swendsen has set up a Minecraft Server. If you are in 6th -12th grade and want to join in, open Minecraft, go to the friends area, click on “join realm”. When it asks for your realm link type in http://realms.gg/2yag1hyWhOY. If you have questions contact Chase Swendsen. More options we are exploring are to host a virtual site to hang out, play games, and Bible study. We will let you know when that happens.
Rooted: Our young men’s (highschool – college age) group is currently doing a Bible study together through the YouVersion Bible app. Contact Devin Geiger to join in.
